Mangrove conservation project - Philippines

Oceanus Conservation's mission is to protect and restore blue carbon habitats and the associated wildlife, and to contribute to the education and community development of Filipino people.

This small NGO – which is based in Manilla – restores and protects Mangroves in the Provinces of La Union, Misamis Oriental and Surigao del Sur.  They are actively assisting local governments, partners organizations and and grassroots communities by providing mangrove restoration training and implementing restoration projects that consider the specific situation at each location.

Oceanus Conservation follows science-based methods for restoration.  This means that besides planting seedlings like others do, they engage, educate and employ communities, train and empower local government leaders, and monitor mangroves so it survives and benefit the communities and the biodiversity of the area.
