Projects supported

Switzerland for the Oceans, through its core focus on marine protected areas, has the aim to create synergy between ocean conservation stakeholders. All of the projects that we select are delivered by expert marine biologists and sector experienced organisations.

 

 

Aeolian Islands

Beautiful, picturesque, paradise. We are supporting the conservation efforts of the Blue Marine Foundation in the Aeolian islands. Read more.

 

 

Monk Seal Conservation

The Monk seal (Monachus monachus) is one of the world’s most endangered species, having only around 500 left in the world. We are supporting the efforts of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. Read more.

 

 
Aldebaran

We support the efforts of Aldebaran  - the organisation that links science and media to proliferate and broadcast knowledge about the ocean. Read more.

 

 

Plastic pollution

Around nine million tonnes of plastic waste enter the oceans every year. Without action, by 2050, the ocean is expected to contain more plastics than fish by weight. We have supported OceanCare who act to stem the use of plastic. Read more.

Mangrove restoration, Philippines

We are supporting Oceanus Conservation in their mangrove restoration activities in Mindanao specifically in mangrove training and restoration of LGU Cagwait (Surigao del Sur) and planting in LGU Salay (Misamis Oriental). Read more
